MECHANICAL/HVAC Engineer

Great opportunity to work with a start-up engineering firm (founded 2004) with a tremendous potential for growth. Our expanding client base will allow candidate to work on a variety of projects with a solid support staff including an excellent CAD Manager. Candidate will have chance to develop their own Mechanical department. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who excel in working with clients, have good marketing skills, and are well-rounded design engineers with a wide variety of experience to help us grow the company. Candidate will work in our downtown Jersey City office or future NYC office.

Responsibilities Include:

• Complete design of HVAC systems including field surveys, load calculations, design concepts, design criteria, selecting equipment, equipment and distribution layouts, editing specifications, assembly of construction documents, reviewing shop drawings, attending construction meetings and punch list
• Project Management—Meeting with clients, writing proposals, managing finances, trade and deadline coordination. Strong organizational skills, superior verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills and experience in meeting facilitation are highly desired. Must be adaptive, flexible, and ability to work under tight schedules to meet necessary deadlines.
• Development of HVAC design and AutoCAD standards
• Development of HVAC specifications
• Management, recruiting, and training of new mechanical/HVAC employees

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years HVAC systems design experience with an MEP consulting firm
• Experience with both NJ and NY projects
• Experience with both residential and commercial projects
• Great marketing and people skills
• BS or BE in related engineering field
