Project Description: Renovation and expansion of an existing church with addition of classrooms and offices in existing sanctuary spaces. Entire building will also be fitted with new air conditioning systems. A new fire alarm system is being provided for the entire building in addition to substantial upgrade of existing electrical systems.

Size: 6,400 square feet

Challenge: Preservation of historic details of the church are top priority so all new electrical wiring and HVAC systems have to be out of sight.

Achievements: All electrical wiring systems were meticulously coordinated with the architect to ensure that wiring will be integrated into existing wall construction. New HVAC systems were carefully placed in existing eaves in the roof structure to maintain ceiling height of new spaces. Air conditioning distribution for the sanctuary is run in the crawl space below the church which was carefully surveyed to ensure all ductwork will fit. Due to ventilation requirements, the new air system for the church contains a large amount of outside air so an energy wheel was designed to pre-condition outside air with already conditioned exhaust air.
