Non Traditional Employment for Women (NEW) - New York, NY

Project Description: Gut renovation to an existing facility used for training women for various construction trades. Renovations will include all new mechanical and sprinkler systems and upgrades to other systems in the building.

Size: 5,000 square feet

Challenge: All existing mechanical systems are constant volume and serve multiple floors so zone control is poor. The client also wanted to implement some environmentally friendly elements into the renovation. However, the budget to upgrade these systems was very tight.

Achievements: Currently in construction. Will replace the existing air handling equipment in the same locations, but will upgrade to VAV systems which save energy and provide much better zone control and comfort. We will place VAV boxes in existing ductwork. We will also provide a gray water system for the new toilets in the building.
