Rochdale Village Library – Queens, NY

Project Description: New addition to existing library.

Size: 7,500 square feet

Challenge: Since the roof is higher and there are no drop ceilings, ductwork cannot extend from the existing building into the addition. The architect also did not want the plumbing lines serving the new roof for the addition to be visible.

Achievements: Installed the new air handler for the addition in the existing building, to blow air into the addition via high throw sidewall linear diffusers. Due to the distance the air has to travel, we installed two exhaust fans at the other end of the roof to induce air across the space of the new addition. We provided a drywall for the roof water, which not only eliminates the need for pipes in the building, but also alleviates burden of storm water on the local treatment plant.
