Project Description: Upgrades to existing water treatment plant including new filtration systems and higher capacity pumping stations.
Size: 20,000 square feet
Challenge: Existing advanced treatment building is not conditioned, but the new filtration equipment being installed requires temperature and humidity control. The equipment is sensitive and critical so all systems require redundancy. The increased load of the pumping station would possibly trigger the need for an electrical service upgrade to the facility, which would be costly due to the distance of the main electrical service from the road. Achievements: The existing electrical loads were analyzed by reviewing the last 12 months of utility bills. A dual rooftop unit N+1 arrangement was provided with enough emergency power backup for all mechanical and water treatment equipment. Through careful planning, the loads did not exceed the capacity of the service, allowing the project to stay within budget. |
